New Year’s Interview for Kids
I gave the boys the same questions last year; here’s their thoughts as of 2010.
DAEGAN, AGE 7.5
Favourites:
- Cereal – Fruity Cheerios
- vegetable – cauliflower
- drink – homemade fizzy drinks (juice and club soda)
- toy – dinosaur figurines
- TV Show – Dinosaur Train
- game – Professor Noggin’s Dinosaur (trivia/knowledge) cards
- book – any BIG dino book with lots of pages
- restaurant – Padmanadi (vegan Chinese/Indian restaurant in Edmonton)
- holiday – Christmas (and Easter)
- animal – bird, because they are descended from dinosaurs
If you could change your name, what would you choose? I wouldn’t change it at all, because not many boys are named Daegan.
What do you love about each person in our family? Gareth: sometimes he annoys me, but I like watching shows together. Daddy makes very good pancakes. I like that Mommy gets me up in the mornings.
Where would you like to go on vacation this year? Hawaii
What are some of your wishes for this year? to go to Hawaii, the Galapagos, and Los Angeles (to see the La Brea Tar Pits and the museum neat to them). I want to learn new math.
What would you like to do for work when you grow up? A palaeontologist.
GARETH, JUST SHY OF AGE 5

- Cereal – Corn Pops
- vegetable – cauliflower
- drink – apple juice
- toy – Wigget (his T Rex stuffie puppet)
- TV Show – Jurassic Park I, II and III and Prehistoric Park

- book – I like all books
- restaurant – Burger King (“the one with the playground”)
- holiday – Easter, Christmas and Halloween
- animal – elephants
If you could change your name, what would you choose? I wouldn’t change it.

Where would you like to go on vacation this year? Madagascar
What are some of your wishes for this year? I wish I could see a dinosaur. I want to learn how to dig up fossils and make models out of dinosaurs.
What would you like to do for work when you grow up? A palaeontologist.

Fantastic idea! I’m going to add this to my “things to do” list. Maybe we will do it for each of the girls’ birthdays starting this year, since I missed the new year.

I could not have elaborated on this better. This is a matter that is dear to my heart and I thought you covered it flawlessly. I only just started writing a blog as well but I’m not veryproficient at it yet. Would like to read more of your website and I’ll definitely return yet again!
