Tin Can Robot

On Monday night Jim and the boys put together this tin can robot kit that we’d bought for the boys ages ago (and hidden  in the closet, and promptly forgotten about!). Here’s the finished product. I quite like how the opening of the rootbeer can looks like the robot’s mouth:

Jim said it was quite involved, with lots of small screws and confusing directions, so I wouldn’t recommend young kids try to build it solo. The boys did help build the parts they could, and were proud of their contributions. They both wanted to pose for photos:

The robot has wheels on the bottom and a switch at the back to turn him on so he’ll toodle around. Here’s Daegan turning him on for yet another trip around his room:

In the same series, we have a catamaran kit you build using two small plastic water bottles as the pontoons—time to clean out another closet and find it! :-)
