Mother’s Day 2010

This afternoon the men headed out to do some Mother’s Day shopping, and gave me the gifts as soon as they got home. A bit early, sure, but what’s not to like? And apparently there are even more things coming in the mail next week. Woot!

The boys helped Jim pick out some flowers, which the florist then arranged into a bouquet with some extra greenery. Gareth loved the flowers (he chose the pink for me, as red is his fave colour), and informed the florist that “it’s a good thing my Mom’s not a triceratops, or she’d want to eat those ferns you added.” And Daegan piped up: “Yeah, and it’s a good thing this flower shop isn’t in the Jurassic, because there’s be nothing in the shop at all!” Gareth: “Flowering plants didn’t evolve until the Cretaceous!” :-)

My other gift has the whole family excited: an ice cream maker! And we’re all a little impatient too. We’re waiting for the bowl to freeze right now so we can try it out. I’ve got the “maiden” recipe chosen: a vegan strawberry ice cream made with coconut milk. If it’s as good as it sounds, I’ll share the recipe in a future blogpost.

Wishing all my Mom friends out there a Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow. Enjoy your day! Talk to you again on Monday.
